For a guy that says he's out of shape and overweight, Jamie had a great sprint. We can't wait to see him back in form! "I worked for all I was worth all the while listening for any sign of anyone behind me... with 5 to go I heard a guy coming up on my left and jumped again but I really did not have any explosiveness left in my legs he caught me at the line and passed me by the width of a tire!"

CRCA B/C Race - Saturday 8/19/06
Team OrganicAthlete member Jamie Brown gave us 2nd place in a very close B/C field sprint during the August 19th, 2006 CRCA club race. Jamie is currently in the C field but definitely not for long! In Jamie's words "Great race, I think that inadvertantly we executed an even better strategy than the original one we planned by having me sit in the pack and conserve for the final sprint and our other 3 guys cover every break." Jamie also mentioned that the initial jump started good 300 yards away from finish line, almost twice as long as most field sprints for this field. It is no surprise most riders on this photo are already grinding it sitting down!
During the 30 mile circuit race Jamie said "Team OA took the initiative and the four of us lead a concerted effort to close the gap to a break that had gotten away for almost half a lap, once again Brian Jim and Paul were out front working really hard to nullify the potential threat posed by this group. That turned out to be a great move as there was another break but they never managed to stay away for long as my team mates closed each of them down."

CRCA Masters 40+ Sunday 8/20/06
Just a day later Eric Berend raced hard to give Team OA another 2nd place finish! This was a CRCA Championship race for 40+ age category. With wet road conditions a break formed early when Eric bridged to three riders off the front, with
two riders on his wheel. Eric mentioned that when the chasing pack got close, he "put the hammer down
through the rollers and opened up the gap." The pace remained high and it looked like the brake was staying clear. "When guys started falling apart on the last lap, I did quadruple
pulls and pushed it on Harlem Hill to shed the weak ones. When David (Taylor, Blue Ribbon/Translations.com) went off near the
end, it was because two others were hanging on my wheel, and one
refused his pull. With a better sprint than me (at least, in the
past), I was not going to tow them to the finish so they could then
beat David and me" said Eric. So with a strong sprint Eric crossed the line managing to hold off others for 2nd place!
