Guacamole!

Avocado is one of the worlds healthiest foods, oops, fruits. When ripe, dark skinned and softer to touch (but not mushy!), they are full of oleic acid, a monounsaturated fat that helps to lower cholesterol. Avocado is also a great source of potassium that helps regulate blood pressure and contains carotenoids and tocopherols (vitamin E) that have showed to inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells.

So a guacamole, made from avocado, onion, tomatoes, chilies and cilantro will not only keep your body healthy but Aztecs believed can be an aphrodisiac! Here is a 2 minute guacamole recipe I learned in Cuautla, Morelos, Mexico:

Ingredients (serves 2)

1 large or 2 small ripe avocados

2/3 cup tomatoes, medium chopped, not peeled

1 tablespoon finely chopped white onion (Spanish)

1 jalapeño (deseeded) finely chopped

1 tablespoon cilantro

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Method

  • scoop the avocados into a bowl and mash with fork or your hand (great for skin)
  • gently mix in the rest of the ingredients
  • taste and adjust seasoning
  • serve at room temperature with whatever dippables you’d like
  • you can also mix in chopped radishes, cucumber, bell peppers, celery whatever your heart desires

I encourage you to be creative! I noticed that in Mexico they don’t use lemon or lime and I also feel that it disturbs the equilibrium of flavors.

CON MUY PROVECHO!!!!!
